My MONOLITH custom gaming PC is finally built!

After spending almost a year and close to $2300, I have finally collected and assembled the gaming PC that I have been touting on my podcast show all these months.  Final assembly and first power up occurred the last week of July 2016.  I dubbed this PC ‘Monolith’ because of the beastly black tower case used, the Fractal Design R5. This is my first PC build, and I have to say although intimidated by the prospect of building such a thing I very much enjoyed it!  The night I switched on the power for the first time and hitting the motherboard start button was nerve racking.  The rig didn’t catch fire/explode or anything as I sort of expected.  The PC started with no problems and I hurriedly installed the ASUS Maximus Hero VIII motherboard bios disc and then the Windows 10 OS without a hitch! The new Doom runs fantastically at 200 fps utilizing the power of the Intel i7 6700K Skylake cpu and the monster ASUS Geforce GTX 1080 STRIX gpu.  You can check out the individual parts I gathered and comments about the rig here. Happy gaming!
